Perspectives on teachers’ competency

Prosperity and security of nation depend upon the quality of its education. In the present era the nations are competing in the field of knowledge only. The politicians are relying upon the knowledge, its scholars and scientists and its applications and its results and repercussion. Nowadays, the competitions are totally in the field of science, technology and economics. The more it is recognized as a great nation, the higher the nation goes into the sphere of knowledge. The quality and level of excellence in education depend upon the quality and competency of teachers.  It is sure that no system of education can rise above its teachers and no nation can rise above its system of education. The teacher is the echelon in the entire system of education. It is also correctly stated that if any revolution is to be brought in education  that should be shared from teacher.
 However, teachers’ Competency had previously been conducted with very little research , especially in rural areas of the country, Myanmar. As far as collecting of data is concerned, from northern Rakhine(ARAKAN) State ,Western Myanmar, teacher competency had been conducted with very little research and especially did not even indicate specific competency that teachers should possess to be considered in Myanamr. One of the pinpoints is that teachers in Myanmar  enter the classroom with good will, interest and self-sacrifice. But they lack all types of material support as well as academic support such as pre-service and in-service trainings.
If we pay attention carefully on a government report in Myanmar, it is stated that some 57 per cent of primary school teachers, 58 per cent of junior secondary school teachers and 9 per cent of senior secondary school teachers have never attended a teachers training.
         In reality, any reform effort has to go with teachers who will determine what is introduced, attempted and included in the classroom experience. Therefore, during the reform process in Myanmar, The teacher should be the center of what takes place in the classroom. Teachers what acts in the classroom and makes activities that help facilitate learning are the major influence in students’ achievement. The teacher is responsible for creating a student- centered in order to stimulate and developmentally appreciate learning environment. The system of education in Myanmar is currently changing but not well implemented it yet. Almost everyone knows that eachers are not well qualified in terms of knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics and are not fully developed as they are not well trained and are not mostly given opportunities to attend different trainings or seminars. They are not supported in the areas of their actually needs.
         In conclusion, to be an effective in improving students’ achievement, good citizenships, better lifelong learners, teachers are key players indeed.

A study of Professional Development for Teachers of ...... School in Myanmar

                                                                   Introduction
           The world in all regions, in the social, cultural, economic, political and educational aspects due to the diffusion of information and the different aspects of knowledge that link all countries around the world through the fast and effective use of modern information technology, has significantly changed. For teaching and learning has risen as an urgent education issue. Having had questions regarding teachers’ education and professional development have been addressed. The most important element is to increases the development of human resource and knowledge and skills that is necessary to develop a country in which the major role is to participate in education management to accelerate for the improvement of necessary skills: thinking skills, professional skills, ability to solve the problems both individual and social. If there is a strong foundation in education, economic growth and social progress will be quite sure.  Education is an important tool in developing a country.
        It is needless to say that any countries with the high literacy has better opportunities of development and has higher chance to succeed in the future. Looking back to the past and the current over-all image, Myanmar’s education has failed to respond to developments in terms of international standards. Therefore, a major strategy for change such as education reform to enhance people’s attitude toward education should be taking into consideration as a very important element. These strategies should bring out with the great desire to learn in the classroom in a delightful atmosphere, with wisdom, intellect, the ability to solve the problems and to make sure the judgment of what is best for themselves and society.
           In many countries, the role and functioning of schools are chaining and so is what is expected of teachers. Teachers are asked to teach in increasingly multicultural classrooms; to place greater emphasis on integrating students with special learning needs in their classroom; to make more effective use of information and communication technologies for teaching; to engage in planning within evaluate and accountability framework; and to do more involve parents schools.
        No matter how good pre-service training for teachers is, it cannot be expected to prepare teachers for all the challenges they will face throughout their careers. Education systems therefore seek to provide teachers with opportunities for in-service professional development in order to maintain a high standard of teaching and to retain a high-quality teacher workforce.
       Effective professional development is on-going process that includes training, practice and feedback, and provides adequate time and follow-up support. Successful programmes involve teachers in learning activities that are similar to ones they will use with their students, and encourage the development of teachers’ learning communities. There is growing interest in developing schools as learning organizations, and in ways for teachers to share their expertise and experienced systematically.

The development of teachers beyond their initial training can serve a number of objectives including:
   To update individuals’ knowledge of a subject I light of recent advance in the area;
To update individual’s skills , attitudes and approaches in light of the development of new teaching techniques and objectives, new circumstances and new educational research;
  To enable individuals to apply changes made to curricula or other aspects of teaching practices;
To enable schools to develop and apply new strategies concerning the curriculum and other aspects of teaching practice;
To exchange information and expertise among teachers and others. e.g academics, individualists; and
To help weaker teachers become more effective.

Two types of happy feeling

1.Happy feeling arises when you get something. It is not actually real happy feeling because one must worry about whether he will certainly get the thing he wants or not.
2.Happy feeling arises when one gives up everything. It is real happy feeling in you because one who gives up  everything to which he belongs does not have the attachment in his mind .So he does not need to worry for that. So, deeply think about the concept of these two views.

Why is international tread important for Myanmar?

--> -->
         It is no doubt about that that International trade is the exchange of goods and services between countries. It is actually types of trade that allows for a greater competition and competitive pricing in the market.
           Myanmar is a country where a lot of natural resources and agriculture have been producing though it is still poor because it is not utilizing properly what it has.  The door of the foreign market in Myanmar has been closed for more than four decades owing to its political unrest. However, on the wave of demoralization, some of the systems such as education, economic and political issue have already been changed. Therefore, on one hand, every single part of the world is trying to invest in Myanmar. On the other hand, they all are also trying to help the people of Myanmar as much possible as they could. In this regard, International trade is a good part of country's GDP since it is one of important sources of revenue for a developing country.
          Having known Myanmar has been ruled by military gender since 1962. Therefore, it has been used the close-door economic practice till the day comes the sunshine of Democracy. Because of the policy of the military regime, the outside world does not still trust Myanmar for business and market stability. Over the last few years, International Labor Organization (ILO) refused to work with Myanmar. However, with a new democratic government which will resume governing from March 15, 2011, the government needs to reinforce domestic and foreign policies and need to gain trust by political stabilizing and by signing bilateral. It is doubtless to say that reciprocal agreement with different governments and international trade ensuring harmonious with other countries can bring international trade and foreign direct investment faster than ever before. It is quite obvious that international trade can become part of a developing nation's growth particularly Myanmar's. As mentioned above, International trade plays a greater role to reach the goal which the people of Myanmar are expecting because it is quite sure that it will give us hope for our next negation and it will also give the people of Myanmar a greater variety of products based on their companies. Therefore, Myanmar should also involve itself more in international trade for specialization.
               After performing open-door policy in 2005, Myanmar government launched the market economy to trade goods and services internationally. If Myanmar actually opens more flexible doors for foreign investments in all aspects, Myanmar can, of course, be one of the driving forces for world, especially economic growth as well as in all aspects for which the people of Myanmar are trying.
            Having seen, Myanmar has been developing its trade relations with neighboring countries, especially China and Thailand. In early 2011, many changes have happened in Myanmar.  Myanmar was facing economic sanctions nearly more than three decades by the world, but now Myanmar government has been promoting border trade with all neighboring countries as well as all part of the world. Furthermore, free trade agreement between ASEAN countries will also be implemented in Myanmar not later than 2015. For investment, foreign investment in Myanmar has been raised sharply since 2008.
           The most significant point is that Industry in Myanmar relies particularly on trade. International trade also provides raw materials for industry. Myanmar produces neither computer nor cell phone which must be imported. How poor Myanmar is!!! In this regard, International trade will provide the importance of the markets for Myanmar products. Myanmar employees will receive wages for the production and distribution of all products. It is needless to say that exports and imports will increase Myanmar GDP.
          In conclusion, international trade plays a vital role in every nation's growth. International trade and investment is the key to success because these can enrich the production and economic growth not only for Myanmar, but for all.
